“The first time Kamni Del Barba called us it was a evening in December Chris and I thought it was a scam call so we answered and thought we would have fun wasting a Scammers time. Little did we know we were about to be blessed by a family who understands exactly what we are going through. Kamni told us all about ODS and how they wanted to help us. I couldn't believe what I was hearing as we were struggling to make ends meet, but honestly that was the last thing on our mind we were just trying to get our son healthy enough to get out of the hospital. I didn't realize I was making a new friend and support to help get through the hard days ahead. We have shared stories and pictures with each other. Kamni helped me understand just what kind of steps would be in our near future. Hearing I have been there and understand what you're going through is something I needed! Two months after our first phone call our family was blessed with a trip to Disney On Ice. We were in the hospital for over 6 months away from our 3 other children most of the stay due to the high risk of getting Chris sick and his critical conditions. We hadn't been able to go to public events but we took a chance and enjoyed this magical event. We were placed in a VIP booth with food and drinks. Our family was able to just enjoy life and for a short time feel completely normal again. We had a wonderful time! Soon we were in the hospital again for Skin Grafts. At this point in our journey we had used all our savings and we're now living off of credit trying to just find a way to get through fighting Social Security, fighting IHHS which both say we should get it but getting denied and fighting to just keep a roof over our heads at this point. We are still fighting this currently. We have to provide 24 hr care for our son and most of it takes both of us so we can't go back to work right now. In this dark time I got another phone call saying we will help your family make ends meet. What a burden this took off our shoulders as we could continue to fight for Chris financial needs but spend more time focusing on Chris health and care. I honestly don't know what we would have done had we not been blessed with this support. Our family is truly blessed to have ODS be in our lives! The support from this organization is unbelievable Thank you for inviting our family to be part of Operations Dez Strong. When we are on the other side of this I know our family will want to join in and help the next ODS family who comes in.”
