Dr. P. B. Sagireddy

Dr. Purushottama (Babu) Sagireddy was born and raised in India. After receiving his medical education from Guntur Medical College in India, he moved to the United States. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Following his residency, he spent one year at the University of Massachusetts, Worcester, doing his residency in Radiology. Because of his passion for direct patient care, he went on to complete his Nephrology fellowship at the University of Texas, San Antonio. Dr. Sagireddy is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. With a background in agriculture and drawn to the weather and multicultural nature of the location, he decided to start his nephrology practice in Stockton, CA, in 2001. Currently, he is the senior most of the seven nephrologists at San Joaquin Kidney Clinic. His care philosophy is to understand his patients’ life goals and to help them achieve these goals as best they can while continuously educating and partnering with them through their disease process.

Dr. Sagireddy has held numerous leadership positions at different hospitals in the Stockton area and has contributed tremendously to improve the care of the patients in the community. He has a keen interest in teaching medical students and residents. He also believes in caring for the underserved populations in the United States and India. He previously served as the president of the alumni association for his medical college and while serving on the executive committee, he helped start a dialysis unit at the government hospital in Guntur to serve the indigent population. He played a key role in building a new trauma center and is actively engaged in building a maternal and child health center at his alma mater to serve about eleven million underserved mothers and children. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Sagireddy enjoys agriculture, gardening and traveling across the globe to learn about different cultures.
